Why I love living alone
When I first moved to Sweden, I had to share an apartment with three other people. My room was the smallest. My room didn’t have a window. Needless to say, I went a little crazy there.
Now that I have my own room in a corridor, with my own kitchenette, I am allowed to live like the true shut-in I am. Since I am writing my thesis this semester, this was the perfect time to let my insanity grow and GROW.
- I eat strange things at strange times (I’ve been sustaining myself off avocados, instant noodles and coffee for the past two weeks)
- I shower at strange times (it was impossible to shower at 3 a.m. while I was pondering a conclusion for an essay in the old place.)
- Staying home clothes/no make-up saves the wear and tear and depletion of those items for when I really need them. And since this is Sweden and things are crazy stupid expensive, this is a HUGE plus. Hurrah for becoming a poorly dressed shut-in!
- Strange music, 24-7. (ex: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uozqaUmISVI)
These may be “normal” things that other people have taken for granted but honestly, since December, being able to do ALL of these things has been such a relief. PLUS HERE I HAVE A WINDOW IN CASE OF A FIRE.
